This month we are focusing on our neighborhoods. It is important that we have your support to assist in making our community safe and it starts with you!

We are asking that you encourage your neighbors to attend this meeting as we will be presenting information on how to organize your blocks and streets. 

This month our speaker will be:

WHAT: Jericho Walk, a community wide event sending the message that we will not tolerate crime.

WHO: Our neighboring communities, businesses, churches, schools, Detroit 300, Habitat for Humanity, U SNAP BAC, officials and YOU!

WHEN: SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

WHERE: The March will start at Mack Ave. & Alter Rd. at MorningSide’s Gateway Park.

Let’s make this the biggest turnout ever to demonstrate that we are citizens united.

Angel’s Night in MorningSide 2011

Thanks to all the volunteers that helped make MorningSide’s Angel’s Night Patrol a success. And thanks to Pastor Charles Laster and Greater Pentecostal Temple for opening their doors as our patrol base.

Angel’s Night Patrol 2011 in MorningSide

Angel’s Night is quickly approaching and the MorningSide community is looking for volunteers to patrol the neighborhood. Help us keep the community safe!

Patrollers are needed between 7 p.m. and midnight on Oct. 29, 30 and 31.

Report to Greater Pentecostal Temple, 15932 E. Warren. We’ll assign you an area to patrol. Volunteer when you can. All help is appreciated!

Refreshment, food and beverages will be provided.

MorningSide October 2011 General Meeting

At our next General Meeting we will introduce our new can goods drive for the holidays to assist families in need of food. Please feel free to bring can goods to this meeting. We will also discuss the upcoming Angel’s Night Campaign.

Our special guest will be Mr. Adam Hollier from the Arden Park East Boston Association who will present his presentation “Why Block Clubs Are Important”. “GQ” from the Detroit Police Department’s Gang Enforcement Division will give us an update on recent gang activity and Paul Taylor from DMC’s (Detroit Medical Center) Friends and Family Program.

As promised by our President O’Dell Tate at last month’s meeting we will have pizza! Please join us and bring a neighbor!

Sept. 2011 MorningSide General Meeting

At our next General Meeting we will have representatives from DTE Energy who will be hosting a workshop for consumers in the MorningSide area. Topics will include: Low Income Assistance Programs, Budget Plans, and Energy Efficiency Programs.

Our special guest will be Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon and representatives from the Detroit Police Department’s Gang Enforcement Division. They will discuss crime analysis in MorningSide and tips on how to make MorningSide a safer community.

Our special guest will be Crime Stoppers of Michigan. Crime Stoppers of Michigan empowers people to make their neighborhoods, schools and businesses safer through anonymous reporting of crime. They will have a very important presentation that you will not want to miss.
